Appreciating The Gift of Life

As I was watching news the other day, there was a story about a 17 year old girl who was partially blind in addition to being enrolled in a school where she was studying with younger students than her. Despite her condition and the age difference between her and her fellow students, she had a lot of hopes for her future. According to her, she was on the road of fulfilling her dreams to becoming someone significant and contributing something towards the well being of the society. She looked beyond her condition moreover; her physical state was not going to stop her in becoming what she wanted to be in life. This kept me thinking and something deep inside me was touched. Imagining the kinds of challenges she might be going through as a person, to top it all up with her physicals state, she till had a positive attitude towards life.
We hear of people committing suicide because of the stress they encounter in life, some of them don’t even clearly define the reasons behind ending their life abruptly and most of such cases come from people who are well physically. I find it hard to see how a person who is perfectly normal can choose to end their life while there others out there who in spite of their physical condition, know it in themselves that they have a purpose in life and go to the extent of achieving great things in life, despite of how they were born or perhaps due to an incident beyond their control, that they are the way they are.
As human being we are not perfect, we face certain challenges in life that are hard to cope with sometime but, should that be the reason for hating living that much to the extent of opting to end it? Can’t say that I truly understand the kind of reasons that push an individual to such limits and that I have the solution to whatever such people go through to reach such a state, one thing I know is that no matter the kind of predicament a person finds themselves in, ending their life is not the best possible solution. Everyone has a purpose in life; we all have a right to live it to the fullest no matter what is ditched to us while on the road to achieving that which we are meant to achieve while still alive.
Personally am thankful of my physical condition, I don’t have to wait for that to change for me to follow my dreams and achieve them, everyday I strive to make the best out of every situation am faced with and most of all, appreciate the gift of life given to me freely and believe there is nothing that can make me despise life that much to the extent of getting tired of living. There people out there who regardless of their conditions and how they are viewed by the society simply because of their physical challenges, still make it in life.

Doing something practicle

.
Some few weeks ago while in church I heard a message form a female pastor that really sunk into me. She touched a topic which some of us might be taking for granted or perhaps fall in the same dilemma. It was about prayer and Gods response to our prayers. It became obvious that people usually pray for something and expect their prayers to be answered, one thing they forget is that not everything comes in a silver platter as I latter on came to realize. Basically, as much as one prays for something with the expectation of their prayers being answered, they have to make an effort towards the things they pray for.
An example was given of someone praying for a wife or a husband, according to the pastors’ message, this prayer cannot be answered by God providing one with a suitable lifetime companion straight form heaven while they sit around and wait for this to happen, an effort has to be made by the individuals after praying towards the things they have prayed for. I guess this meant being open to relationships and not limiting their interactions with other people and of course depending on His guidance to find the desired partner to settle with. I related this message to some of the things I usually pray for in the hopes of having my prayers answer and getting what I truly desire in life.
A good job and leading a responsible life are some of the things at the top of my list when it comes to my unanswered prayers.  As much as I pray and sit around waiting for such things to happen in my life, without making an effort towards the things that I pray and desire for, in the long run I might end up not acquiring them. That is why in regards to getting a job; at first I was sitting around and depending on other people to connect me into an organization for employment. Come to think of it, this wasn’t the right approach to starting a career and took it upon myself to search for places, introduce myself without anyone’s help and continue with my prayers as I wait for a good response.
Maybe people get discouraged if they don’t get what they want in life especially after a long wait of continuous prayer without any change in their current status. What I can say in regards to this is that, as much as we depend on the power of prayer, we should also make an effort towards the things we pray for. I mean it is most unlikely for things to happen just by prayer alone, it must be accompanied by something practice.
